Young Europeans' surprising use of technology
Adaugat la data de: 2013-07-30 10:01:10 | JA Romania

My participation as member of the jury for the Company of the Year 2013 Competition was a unique, interesting and special experience. I appreciated participants’ creativity, their thorough training, seriosity, passion, entrepreneurial spirit, hard work and teamwork abilities, as well as their power to convince us that their projects are viable. I noticed several common features for most of the participating teams, such as their mature and professional approach, a sort of natural use of technology, online communication for informing, promoting and selling during the implementation of their projects, and their social responsiblity. I was happy for the awards won by Romania’s team, but I consider all participants winners. I am totally confident that the young generation will truly change the world!", said Romania’s representative of the European jury at the 24th edtion of the JA-YE Company of the Year 2013 Competition, Mrs. Violeta Ciurel (CEO AXA Insurance Romania).

In London, Romania’s team (L IT Tech) formed from 7 high school students from the O C Taslauanu Theoretical High School in Toplita, won the Enterprise without Borders award for the international partnernship with AmbiConfor, Portugal’s team. Through this partnership, the Romanian students sold the Light App – an application which, among others, tests the level of alcohol in blood, to include it in the kit for cars produced by the Portuguese team.

The winner of JA-YE Company of the Year 2013 title was the Estonian team who founded 3 Little Pigs, a business which offers science shows to children aged 6-12 through hands-on experiments for private parties or other events. Up until now, they performed to over 1 000 students.

3 Little Pigs was selected among teams representing 34 nations, after 3 days of competition (17-19 July) by an international jury formed by 11 leaders from the business and institutional environment in Europe.
